An interactive cooking class or art program is a great way for your scout troop to earn a badge or just have fun! Choose from our most popular programs or let us custom design an event for your members and your budget. Scout events can be booked through the website for any time or day of the week. A $100 deposit holds your reservation. You'll find weekend spots availble on our calendar or we can add a weekday timeslot at your request. Scouting events have a $150 minimum charge unless special arrangements are made in advance. Our space is conveniently located in a plaza with plenty of free parking. We can accommodate up to 16 participants for most programs. We request an accurate number attending two days before your event. You will be charged for that number. At Serendipity we LOVE guiding scouts to explore new horizons that inspire and build confidence. We discuss how these skills are useful in the home as well as in potential careers.
Snacks, Simple Meals or New Cuisines Badges
Depending on the age of your scout and your goals we offer a 90 to 120 minute interactive cooking class. We start with a tour of our commercial kitchen and review safety, sanitation and kitchen etiquette. We make recipes as required for your badge including, but not limited to tacos, fruit sushi, handmade pasta and crepes and baked goods. Participants eat what they make. We can adjust recipes for food allergies if needed. Scouts gain kitchen confidence and learn recipe terms, healthy eating options and teamwork.
Social Butterfly Badge
In this badge we learn about table settings, manners in and out of the home, holding conversations, making introductions, refusing with grace and handling yourself in common social situations. Scouts will enjoy a simple meal to learn how to eat neatly and quietly. Following the meal, we will learn the importance of Thank You notes and practice confidence building skills through role playing.
Drawing, Painting, Pottery, Jewelry, Book Artist Badges
Our professional instructors guide scouts through badge requirements by discussing materials, tools and techniques. Pottery (and Fused Glass) requires that pieces are kiln-fired for pick up a few days later. For the Jewelry Badge, we can make a bracelet or bracelet and necklace ($5 additional charge per scout) using a variety of beads. Polymer beads can also be hand crafted and included in the finished design. For Drawing and Painting we have a variety of mediums that can be explored to produce note cards or a finished piece of artwork.
Scout programs are $25 per participant. Additional charges may be applied for expanded menus or additional art items.
